Advancing carbon storage: well testing for a major North Sea project

Extending our decade-plus support of the UK’s CCS industry.

We’re delivering critical reservoir appraisal and well testing services for a high-profile carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in the UK North Sea, strengthening our commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

We’ve been commissioned to provide integrated services to appraise two wells in a large saline aquifer, supporting the evaluation of its suitability for long-term carbon dioxide storage.

Our operations will draw on our capabilities and technologies of our well testing, fluid sampling and analysis, subsea, meters, and wireline business segments in supporting the start of the UK’s carbon storage industry. We are also collaborating with specialist partners to support key elements such as Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) operations and Drill Stem Testing (DST) data acquisition.

The project builds on our success in providing integrated well testing services to Equinor for the Northern Lights CCS project in Norway. It demonstrates our commitment to the UK’s CCS program and the opportunities it’s expected to create for local employment, economies, and supply chains.

Expro has more than 20 years' experience in supporting CCS projects around the world and a 50-year-plus heritage of supporting the energy industry in the North Sea.
